A panel discussion between experts and survivors of human trafficking  will focus on Oscar nominee, Robert Bilheimerto documentary film, Not My Life on Tuesday, August 20 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Cowles Auditorium, Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

The film, which is an exposé on the dangers of human trafficking and slavery around the world is free and open to the public; however, participants are advised to register in advance at www.micglobe.org.

Information received from Nellie McKay, Public Events Manager, Minnesota International Center (MIC) stated: The film, Not My Life, features dignified and inspiring testimony from survivors; depiction of trafficking, exploitation, and slavery in all parts of the word including forced labor in Africa; street begging and garbage picking in India; sexual trafficking in the United States and Southeast Asia; and various forms of child enslavement and abuse in both North and South America.”

On the panel are Jeff Bauer, Director, Public Policy and Civic Engagement, The Family Partnership, Vednita Carter, Executive Director, Breaking Free, John Choi, Ramsey County Attorney, and Bukola Oriola, Author and Host, Imprisoned Show.

The event was put together by the MIC in collaboration with the World Affairs Councils on America and Carlson & the Carlson Family Foundation. The Film was narrated by Glenn Close.
