Heartland Girls’ Ranch was founded in June 1992 to provide a service to at-risk female juveniles.  It was developed with the commitment to provide a unique and effective approach to working with these girls. Heartland Ranch is a working ranch that uses horses as a catalyst to bring about positive change. The horses are used on a daily basis to address problem areas, attitudes, and behaviors from a perspective that is new to our clients–that of an authority figure.  Our clients are put in a role of ongoing responsibility as “parent” and caregiver to the horse–the “child”– with which they deal.  This role reversal offers our clients remarkable insight into problem areas and ultimately invites and encourages girls to make dramatic changes in their approach to life.

There are many facets to operating a ranch and a program.  All girls are involved daily in many varied activities.  All activities are designed with one ultimate goal–to provide the girls with opportunities for success.

Effecting positive changes in anyone is a difficult undertaking. At Heartland Ranch, we are committed to working hard every day and being professional in our approach.  All staff members use a firm and caring approach to working with girls.

Heartland Girls’ Ranch is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are welcome and may be tax deductible.

At Heartland Ranch we are constantly looking for ways to improve our service to our clients.  Open communication between us and placing agencies and families is always welcome. We look forward to working with you.
