Sisters of Saint Francis Raise Human Trafficking Awareness, January


Sisters of Saint Francis, Rochester Minnesota will be hosting a human trafficking awareness event titled Breaking the Chains on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Assisi Heights.

Local organizations across the Twin cities are invited to set up free table for exhibition at the event to commemorate President Barack Obama’s declaration of making January human trafficking awareness month. Exhibitors will get an 8 ft. table and they are expected to set up at 7.45a.m and tear down at 1p.pm.

A program of event issued by the Sister s of Saint Francis stated show that there will be other events holding on Thursday, January 10 and Friday, January 11 at the University Square.

The sister stated: “At a gathering of Rochester Franciscans in the summer of 2011, we set our direction and focus for the next six years: We, the Sisters of Saint Francis…are impelled to speak respectfully and act courageously on issues of oppression and marginalization of women and children. Along with many other issues of injustice, our focus includes efforts to overcome human trafficking. To do so, we are asking for your partnership and sponsorship of upcoming events.”
